Achatina fulica is one of the best-known species of giant African land snail. Widespread beyond its East African origins, it’s now found in tropical regions worldwide. This species is popular among exotic-pet enthusiasts
BASIC CARE INFORMATION
• Temperature & Humidity: Thrive between 21–24 °C; maintain medium humidity; use heat mat/thermostat to avoid extremes
• Nocturnal Routine: Active at night; hide in substrate during the day
• Housing: Tank (e.g. 45 × 30 × 30 cm) with deep, moist but not soggy substrate; ventilated lid essential
• Diet: Leafy greens, vegetables, fruit, plus calcium sources (cuttlefish bone or eggshell)
• Growth: Juveniles mature in ~6 months; adults may grow to 7 – 10cm sometimes larger and live 5–6 years in captivity
